Can white socks ever be stylish?

But I want to try and understand what people have against them.

I think they look fresh and clean and go better with white trainers. I wear black with black trainers. Although because of the view above that its a turn off I kinda compomised and bought some grey ones, Still think white look better with white trainers.

And what's wrong with white trainers? they go perfectly with jeanss, especially since a lot of jeans are a darker, almost navy blue and navy and black look terrible together

If you're a backpacker/rough sleeper/binner, I think that any style or color of sock worn, will be acceptable.

Yes white, or more accurately off-white, Arctic woollen over-socks can look cool and also very warm. But they're more of a cream colour than snow white. And they're boot socks so unlikely to offend ankle-obsessed sock watchers.
