BBC 6 Music: Radcliffe and Maconie: shut up for a bit FFS

I LOVE Sundays on 6M. Outstanding. Otherwise daytimes are too much nonsense talk.

Though I do understand the gripes, and feel a little hypocritical as I have similar issues with presenters who aren't A&J so can't really argue just because I think they're funny this time. They do seem to at least care about the music they play though. Or their free plays at least...

When they came back it was like welcoming back an old friend. I find them very funny, completely inane but so what. They make me smile like a loon and laugh out loud every show.

Very much my experience too, but for those who don't like them they really must be excruciatingly annoying. They constantly witter on about absolutely nothing, basically stream of consciousness stuff, often in stupid voices (that are offensive to Australians ) and spend a large portion of the show just giggling at each other.

If I didn't love it, I'd probably want them dead.

Plus there's a shed load of audience interaction, which is apparently not liked either.

They do play music! They play lots! If their podcast is anything to go by then (very) approximately 2/3rds of their show is music. Now, that still may not be enough in your eyes, but you can't say they don't play music.

Ed, you might like this. BBCify - it compiles all the 6Music (and Radio 1 & 2) show playlists into handy spotify playlists so you can listen to the latest tracks without having to endure the tiresome daytime DJs.

Sure it's not ideal for getting rare BBC sessions and other exclusive stuff but it's a nice compromise to switch over to when Laverne starts babbling on about twitter and whatnot.

Mark & Lard went downhill when they got shunted onto daytime Radio 1.

Neither Mark, nor Lard, have been funny ever since.

If anything, I thought they were funnier on daytime radio one than they were at night. Granted the music took a spectacular nosedive, but certainly the afternoon show made me laugh and I hate comedy radio. Hate it hate it....

Try WFMU - they play about 8 songs without talking.

I still make obscure references to characters such as 'Bobby Bobblesock' and occaisionally blurt out 'is it worth owt?' and the word 'walbum' is part of my everyday speech. Oh, happy days. Well, bright bits of sometimes miserable days.... They were indeed brilliant.

I think they are brilliant - but they don't suit 6music I'm afraid. The 8pm - 10pm slot on radio2 suited them perfectly and I listened to it pretty much every night when making my tea, only caught them a couple if time on 6music as I don't often work from home and they don't fit in, yet *ever hopeful*

I used to enjoy the Radcliffe and Maconie show on Radio 2. They talked a fair bit, but they were entertaining and talked largely about the music. I haven't really listened to the 6 music show cos it clshes with Robert Elms on BBC London.

6 seems to go in phases. it had it goin on there for a while - cerys, gideon, huey etc...

now it seems to have retreated to the george lamb days with the likes of the deeply deeply unfunny adam n joe and this new pair. has there been a change in controller or somethin? surprised they'd allow themselves to go backwards just after massively boosting their listening numbers.

Eh? Cerys, Gideon and Huey are all still on 6 Music.

Another Adam and Joe fan here. Definitely pretty funny.
