William Goldman (Princess Bride, Butch Cassidy, All The President's Men) dies aged 87

Oh, yes, wasn't sure, but having just googled one of his other books was titled "Which Lie Did I Tell?" :D

Of course, Princess Bride was adapted from his own novel, along with Marathon Man.

Very typically American storytelling, which he did better than most. Adventures in the Screen Trade is a great book, describing how he constructed that very typically American storytelling.

It’s also full of great anecdotes and gossip, my favourite being how The Stepford Wives didn’t go to plan because the director insisted on casting his wife.

Also, I never really took to The Princess Bride movie, because Goldman‘s novel is so much better.
