Who's off to Beat Herder then?

It may be a bit of extra walking but I'd rather not live in a sea of nitrous oxide cannisters, puke and teenage psychosis. But yes, some of them are lovely to be sure. Bit of a lottery though, in my experience.
We don't live in it - maybe that's the way forward? We only spend a minimal amount of time at the tent - once it's up, we come up too, head off into BH land and then no sleep for the first 2 days, just go back to get changed and wiped down. Then only back late Sunday night, at which point we're so drunk we can't see anything anyway.

There's plenty of teenage twats around, but I don't think it does any of us any good to think of them as identical to each other. They're not. Some of the bestest mates we've made (as middle-aged 'wreckheads') over the last few years have been firmly in their teens.

AND - up until about 3 years ago, it was middle-aged people who populated most of the main camping areas. It was teenagers who carried our mud-packed gear out of the site when we were too fucked to do it a few years ago. It was a mix of teenagers and middle-aged who pushed and pulled cars out of all the mudpits too a few years ago.

More Beatherder just to remind folks that's it not bad :D

Pretty gutted, lost my Iphone when I was there and took some decent pictures of the surrounding countryside. Anybody manage to get any nice shots of the surrounding area? (Pendle Hill, the landscape surrounding general camping etc) Genuinely miss that place, could spend many a day off wandering around those hills!

There are quite a few photos of the area on the mundane photos thread in the northern forum. You'll have to search though.

So who's going this year? Reviews from last year seem pretty positive so it looks like me and at least a couple of friends may be making the long drive. I wasn't there last year but from reading back on this thread had they reintroduced the worthless searches between the campsite and the arena? They did that in 2013 and it was just a hassle because it created queues for nothing.

I think I'm just going to do Boomtown this year. Beatherder was wicked, - beautiful site, friendly northerners and good music - but I can only do the one festie this year and find it difficult convincing people to make the trip north west!
Yeah the security last year was as you mentioned, total ball ache.

Beat Herder is great and we'll definitely be back at some point but we're not doing another festival with a potty-training toddler, once was quite enough. If you do go you will love it and probably meet some lovely urbs as well. The Perfumed Garden is the best part of the festival IMO.

!! No Shirl , no moose , and now possibly no Tort ? It won't be the same without you lot!
I will be there on at least one of the weekend days. We decided to take a year off when I knew my old girl (the dog not me mum) wouldn't last long and I didn't want to leave her. I'm still treasurer for PG and Wolfie has a DJ set though so we have a ticket each. :)

Yay!! Tell me when it is so I can come and mither bollocks down your earholes :D

Other options or something putting you off?

Can't commit until I know whether or not I'm going to have to go on a business trip that week. Also a lack of holidays due to 3 weeks in Central America earlier in the year.

First one I will miss in the last 9 years, not really the place for a 7 month old baby, will return next year when she goes for a holiday with the grandparents and we can have a weekend off. Will be going Eden in a few weeks time with a 6mth old tho eeeek! Will be her first festival and our first with our Van.

I see Primal Scream have cancelled. Whilst I'm not over bothered as I've seen them several times it's still a bit of a shame as its always nice to have a bit of variety to break up the various shades of dance.

I can't imagine they'll be able to get much of a replacement at this short notice. ABC again, anyone?

Having done 8 on the bounce we've decided to give it a miss this year. It'll be a wrench, especially as we were offered free crew passes.

I love seeing James live in a field. I'll be dancing my head off :D

Yeah its not a bad booking given the short notice and everything. They're quite active on the festival scene so I've seen them a few times recently so I would have preferred something different, also they're not shy of playing new stuff and they do have a new album out..........

As you say though if the sun shines it'll all be good.
