Who has the best customer service for buying tech these days?

lizzieloo

Numpty extraordinaire
R.I.P.
Bought a new tablet cos my old one was slow, new one is slower, Argos are telling me to suck it up.

I always relied on John Lewis in the past as their customer service was always really good, it's terrible now.

Who should I buy my tech from? I realise that Argos' was probably not the best idea so no need to point and laugh

If you ordered it online you have a 14 day cooling off period regardless of if you opened it. If it’s not up to scratch you can return it for a full refund.

However I’m not sure click and collect works like this because you theoretically have a chance to inspect the product in store.

I know I have the right to return it but Argos are telling me I don't, tried talking to them twice. I have no idea how I can get them to accept that I do have the right. I did order it online for delivery.

Have you got a sainsbury's with an argos tacked on near you ? Just take it in and say its not fit for purpose. It worked for me :)

Yes I do, I'll give it a go, thanks.

Just found a template letter from the citizens advice about cooling off too.

Argos are telling me I need to contact the manufacturer which I know is bollocks as my contract is with Argos, they're just trying to waste time so I've passed the 14 days. I hadn't thought of the cooling off thing

The customer support just put the phone down on me because I won't accept what they're saying, it's mad frustrating.

Quote consumer contracts regulation at them and threaten a small claims court case and they will suddenly play ball.

I'll try sainsburys first, might go there with all this printed out mind.

Anyone ever tried to return stuff to ebuyer? I still need a tablet

Another vote for Richer's, they don't do computer stuff though, otherwise, they are our go to. Used them the past 6 or 8 times for AV stuff.

Yes and they were very quick and very understanding. Also had a problem with a delivery that they fucked up and they payed me back the delivery charge straight away. I was all set for a row and they just said, yeah, no probs. Money should be in your account today.

Had a full on panic attack in Sainsburyargos, luckily I was with Mr loo who rode in on his white horse and he sorted it while I hyperventilated outside

No one should be made to feel like that.

Utter cunts

I know it's not what people want to hear, but if Amazon have it and they sell it (not 3rd party) by far the best. Just have to say its broken, you get the easiest way of sending it back I know and when they get it back they refund you. I bought my new pc from Amazon.

This is how Jeff Benzo became a multibillionair. He might be the devil but if he is, decent customer service.

If you don't want to dance with the devil, Scan.co.uk (who are also on Amazon) and ebuyer.co.uk are also very good.

They really are very good at this. I guess they can afford not give a fuck, but no waiting for ages to speak to people and they always seem to sort it out quickly. Although I'm a Prime member so maybe they see how often we order stuff from them.

Argos are a nightmare now. I returned a faulty desk fan to a store last summer and the guy plugged it in and tried to say it wasn't faulty, took about 40 minutes of arguing to get my money back. In the olden days you could return used camping equipment for a no-quibble refund by saying you didn't like the colour.

I had to bump this thread to big up Richers.
Following a recent visit to the in laws I had the bright idea of buying them a new transistor radio. Bearing in mind we are between Christmas and new year. I bought said radio on line from Richer Sounds yesterday afternoon. It was delivered, by courier to the in laws this morning. What superb service.
