Ceredigion…? Haven't been down that way in years. We used to go to a farm just outside of Ammanford (kinda between Ammanford and Llandeilo (which autocorrect wants to change to 'landfill')) and I saw my first otter family on the river (the otters disappeared, and I later found out that the farmer had shot them because he wanted to dam the river to create a trout farm and didn't want them stealing the fish, which says a lot about how much he knew about otters).:(:snarl: Cunt died a year later, so I like to think that was karma. I hated going there after that. Sister got a cat from there on her 8th birthday, brought her back, she shot out the front door and was promptly knocked down and killed by a speeding Lamborghini.

No idea if the 'farm' is still going (they sold all the livestock, bar a couple of potbellied pigs, sister got her first horse from there), to focus on landscape painting and walking holidays (it was on Watercolour Challenge - remember that…), but the prices were stupid - you could have a fortnight in Greece for the price of a week there.

Yeah I live not far from where you’re describing. Though tbh, between Ammanford and Llandeilo can take in a lot of places and I don’t know of any trout farm around there. There’s one up by Llyn y Fan Fach on the Beacons, but that’s definitely not where you mean. We have two streams in my village. Very small streams (very small village). I’ve seen an otter in one of them.

Trout farm never happened, he decided, after he'd committed ottercide, that it would be too expensive to run. The farm was called Glynhir and it was actually closer to Llandybie.

Haha. My gfs family rented the cottage/house at Glynhir about 15 years ago when they came and stayed for Xmas. It was the only place that accommodated 12 people around here. It was the year of the tsunami on Boxing Day.

Yeah, the Brewhouse, largest 'cottage' on the right as you come down the lane. My sister and mates stayed there one year, the farmer's youngest son kept 'em well supplied. Oh it wasn't all bad. I remember that the older brother of someone my sister met there almost accidentally self-immolated because he was drunk, probably also stoned, and decided it would be a good idea to pour lighter fluid over his head and set light to it.

There was also a very inquisitive goat. We stayed in the Paddock Flat, which is hidden round a corner (good views of the Black Mountain from the garden) and I woke up one morning to find said goat - Henrietta - licking my face. I went into the kitchen and found she'd helped herself to the contents of the fridge. The youngest son - Julian - used to renovate and race Beetles, I particularly remember his Mr. Blobby because, like the real thing, it was fucking terrifying! He wanted to turn a couple of fields into a classic car rally circuit.
