What's for tea tonight? (#8)

It all went well, it has been a very long time since I cooked loin chops (am more likely to get the cheaper shoulder chops which are best braised) so was a little nervous that I might bugger them up by overcooking them - but 3 minutes a side with the grill on high worked out absolutely perfect, browned and the fat cooked on the outside, nice and pink in the middle, very tender. Very happy, I wouldn't normally get them on our budget so it was a very nice yellow sticker find!

OH's haddock fillet was really lovely too, bargains for both of us :)
 
I might do baked sardines, but, if they're any good, I might just do a big pile of boquerones. I fancy something quick and simple. (If it's not too expensive I could be tempted to do pulpo a gallego) We will see what they've got at the fishmonger.
 
Zoom dinner this evening is something with pasta, so I've made a veggie spaghetti bolognese. I've just tasted the sauce and it's very nice, but I can't ever get very excited about pasta. I'd rather have it with potatoes, if I'm honest.

Zoom dinner this evening is something with pasta, so I've made a veggie spaghetti bolognese. I've just tasted the sauce and it's very nice, but I can't ever get very excited about pasta. I'd rather have it with potatoes, if I'm honest.

Okay, I was talking rubbish. That wouldn't have been better with spuds, and I'm sorry to sound smug but the sauce was bloody delicious. One of my more successful bits of busking it. :cool:
 
I'm having a 'can't be arsed cooking' evening so a freezer portion of something with rice. What the 'something' will be I don't know and might not until it comes out of the microwave, because I'm not very systematic about labelling boxes and one freezer portion of curry or veggie stew looks much like another, so it's a bit of a lucky dip. I cocked up and ended up with rice and mixed vegetable soup once...

That sounds familiar. I once had a dinner of rice pudding, thinking I had taken out a risotto.
