What's for tea tonight? (#8)

When Mr.QofG's rolls in from the beer festival followed by pub it will be pizza, garlic bread, mozzarella sticks, pasta salad and dip (the latter two reduced!)

pasta with pesto, crunchy fried streaky bacon bits, mushrooms and a dash of double cream plus a dusting of mature cheddar

Followed by chocolate and vanilla cheesecake.

the pasta was top notch, too full to face pudding anytime soon

Roux made with stork block/pure, then unsweetened almond milk, and grated violife.
Consistency was right, flavour was as if it had been made with mild cheddar :hmm:
Girl spat it out, but tried it at least.

First dinner - salad of spinach, pesto, cherry tomatoes, beetroot, with sides of potato salad, coleslaw and tinned sardines. Extremely decadent chocolate fudge cake for dessert (best i've ever eaten!)

Second dinner - very spicy chicken wings in hot Lousiana sauce, coleslaw, nachos with beef chilli, cheese, sour cream and guacomole (all shared) plus pints.

Pub burger and cider :)

Going to try making a chilli tomorrow with steak bits instead of mince, but not sure how small to chop it :hmm:
I was pondering doing this, as I've got about half a dozen 28 day matured sirloin steaks in the freezer, from the reduced to clear section.

I've had steak chillies before (shop bought) and the lumps were small strips so that should work. So perhaps slice it into strips and chop these into say 1cm-ish long strips. :)

I've done this in the past and cooked it for ages so that the steak falls apart. If you don't fancy that, I'd say however small you like :)

Last night we had Korean style minced pork (cooked with garlic, ginger, sugar, gochujang, soy sauce, sesame seeds and oil and sugar snaps) and noodles. Was a last minute make it up on the spot thing. Tasted ok, not much depth of flavour...

sorry this was bland! i recommend adding Korean chilli powder next time, its got an amazing kick - if you don't have it, ordinary chilli will do.

Today i'm cooking so its roast chicken with lemon and garlic, mashed creamy spuds with scallions, roasties, brocolli, etc. Vanilla cheesecake and leftover chocolate cake for dessert, champagne and red wine (Dad's birthday!).

Tonight will be the same as last night - the joys of living alone and being on a diet - everything "serves" at least two .... and in the case of things like veggie burgery things or Linda McCartney pies, I dare not have them in the house - even if I had a fridge ... four highly calorific items in a box :p

Poached salmon fillets with couscous. Will fry some garlic and chilli, shred the salmon and shove in some roasted peppers in olive oil and sun-dried tomatoes too.

It wasn't bland at all - it had chilli from the gochujang and garlic and ginger. It just wasn't very interesting, iyswim. But yes! I deffo need to track down some Korean chilli. People keep telling me so.

Enjoy your roast! Hope your dad has a good one :)

Roast pork loin joint, mash and gravy, gonna start it soon, ice lollies and ice cream, that little lot should sort hangover out.

A falafel wrap. Ratatouille and spaghetti. About three hours apart - it's been a strange day but I do need to eat a bit more atm.

A huge amount of a very spicy sausage n bean casserole. I need to eat less.
How does one do that without feeling hungry? Or is it just a natural feeling that were supposed to feel?

Are you on the waggon? Don't worry your body is just craving the calories it would normally get from booze. You will still lose weight even if you get sugar cravings and start eating sweets.

Yeah, but appetite no different from normal - i always eat twice what everyone else seems to eat. And i sometimes have two teas. And no sugar cravings!

Do you consider yourself overweight? If not don't worry about it. Just enjoy the food.

Not really, but my BMI begs to differ. I should lose some. I'm 42, and could do without a heart attack or a stroke right now. It would be a bit of a bummer for my family, who have enough trouble as it is.
