Help What is 4000 pixels?

I have to submit some jpeg images no bigger than 4000 pixels. Does that mean 4000 overall? That would be tiny right?

Does it mean 4000 pixels wide?

I'm not sure I've seen an image limit expressed in number of pixels before. 'longer side should not exceed X number' or 'no larger than X by Y' is more usual

It's not unusual. When people want to write got my other website, I ask for their accompanying images to be 735 pixels wide.

i meant that if they were really saying 'maximum 4000 pixels' rather than 'maximum 4000 pixels wide' that would be unusual
