What are you having for breakfast?

My sister gifted us a Noma book on fermentation, so he's keen to try out all those weird haute cuisine combinations. Some work for my tastes, some don't, but it's all highly experimental at this stage. I hope this will eventually result in a solid rotation of favourites. Kefir would be a good one to try, I'll mention it to him.

Ooh I've got that book, was about to ask you for instructions but I'll actually open the book instead

This morning I had porridge with honey and big salt.

I'm not the one doing it so can't comment much but one thing I've noticed is that it takes longer. I think Noma people took 8 days for boozeberries but my partner fermented them for 14 days. After 8 days they were just salty/boozy and the tang wasn't strong enough to balance. But ymmv : )

That's good to know, thanks!

I was in Hackney yesterday so got some overpriced bagels from Papo's, so one of them with scrambled eggs, in a minute. Or cheese, I can't decide. Already finished all the coffee in the house so will have with fizzy water. UPDATE! I found some mushrooms, so having them.

Bacon and scallop roll from the legendary Brunsy in Plaistow

Not being familiar with any rave scene ever, I was ignorant of Brunsy, and indeed of everything about Plaistow. Which is one of the places one doesn't go to, unless one lives there or knows people there, and I don't.

But hey, what are these bacon and scallop rolls? So I googled, and I immediately want to go there and eat one.

I made bagels as I'm tired of not getting proper ones out here in the cultural desert where I live, and then paying £6 for four through sheer excitement when I go to a big city. It went way better than last time when they were like puppy teething rings but still definitely room for improvement. Anyway so I had one of those, with some curried pumpkin soup made from Halloween pumpkins.
