What are you baking?

I found a recipe for a cake on the internet which I thought I'd give a go. It's made from Shreddies and is very similar to a Weetabix cake I've had at Slimming World. This has loads of sugar in it though.
It's not too bad, bit like a tea loaf and has quite a chewy crust. That'll be the sugar.

I started a sourdough starter this week. My first ever I think.
I put some flour and water together and added a yogurt based drink my HM assured was good for hangover. I have added further flour then left alone for a couple of days.
I want to bake with it tomorrow. Make a sourdough boule that stands up and stands out.

Got all the ingredients for a Christmas cake today.
Steeping the fruit overnight in whisky....recipe calls for half a glass...I put in half a large wine glass :D
Will get started on the cake tomorrow. It's a gluten free cake so I'm hoping it works out alright.

Does anyone have a good recipe for carrot cake? Last time I attempted it I used a recipe which google offered up, which provided a hideous result. I haven’t had the heart to try again, but if anyone’s got a we’ll proven recipe then I probably should have another go.

I've not actually tried this one but the recipes in this series are generally good, and the article bit where she compares different recipes is useful for tweaking stuff depending on how you want it to turn out.

I LOVE that series - such a good idea and really reliable. The only one I've ever tried that I didn't like was the apple crumble. It's got about half the sugar it needs and the crumble:fruit ratio is all off (too much fruit).

Yeah her idea of what "perfect" banana bread should be like is all kinds of WRONG  and fucked up but I still use it as a base with a few changes
