What are you baking?

Not bad sourdough this morning

I got a new Aldi cake mixer off my mates for my birthday (see centre), and I baked a proper cake for the first time!

All the gear and no idea:

Went seriously wrong and had flour explosion. The recipe didn’t mention that ‘fold in’ meant using a spatula not wizzing it.

They didn’t rise properly. After speaking to mrs quoad he says you don’t add the flour before the eggs (it did go a bit like a cloggy paste). But by this stage I’m thinking it’s not a total disaster!

Whacked some whisked cream and jam in, decorated it:

Jobs a good un, first cake! Room for improvement, I’m pretty sure there shouldn’t be that much flour in my hair/the floor/the machines... plus they do look a bit flat. But overall I’m pretty fucking pleased with myself! Mary fucking Berry mates!

Gone all out today with my sour dough and treated the family to some baguettes. I didn't intend to treat them but when I followed the recipe in Tantine Bread I suddenly realised I'm made 2 kilos of dough.

It started last night with a yeast mix and a starter mix and then combined and proven throughout today.

Pretty chuffed for a first go.

Begging for some tomato soup :)

We should have an urban bake off thread with pretend 'shake hands 'Paul Twattywood and Mary 'Get her in your death poll' Berry :D

You could of course Google one

But, that wouldn't be the same as mr steev's recipe would it? Besides, I thought you were a fan of sharing experiences on here, rather than just using google?

I'm always frightened at the number of people suggesting answers based entirely on Google rather than answers based on experience in this forum. Let experts post instead of idiots who Google

Help - Why would one channel of the mixer be quieter than the other?

But, I guess being consistent is hard when your motivation for being here is very different to most.
