Want to find an old programme when my dad was playing, and replica shirt

Hi everybody,
My dad played for DH in the 1950s, his surname was Chantry (he is in the video when DH played Nigeria). I wanted to just pick up one match day programme with his name on; there are quite a few programmes from this period for sale on ebay but few show the actual team. I wondered if anyone who has programmes from this time might check and see if his name is in them? I'm not asking people to give me the program, just for dates that i could then look to buy on Ebay.
Also would love to get a vintage DH shirt .. wonder if anyone knows anyone looking to sell one?
Thanks,
Tom

Wishing you luck.. there should be more than enough people with a vast knowledge of the club to be able to point you in the correct direction. Most use this forum.

I assume that's Don Chantry. I know he was part of the group of ex-players from the post-War era who attended a couple of matches a season around 15-20 years ago but I never knowingly met him.

John Lawrence the club historian would be the best person to advise which matches he played in, although I don't think he uses social media.

The vintage shirts were manufacrured by Toffs, but they appear to have dropped that design from their range even though it woudl probably sell in much greater numbers now than during teh year when it was available.

Tom do you mean the photos of the programmes on eBay do not show the team selection? They usually do. Your Dad may have been in same team as Tommy Jover, Pat Connett & Glynn Jones.

Yes many of the people selling do this ref to line ups, they just have a pic of the cover
You can thou message them and ask if they could look to see if his down as playing , ive done this a few times and they have got back to me.
I will have a look to see if i can see his name, i have a few and get back to you
Edit Found one with his name in BUT someone has put a slight line through it and put Hall handwritten obvs a team change No 5 Home to Walton and Hersham 18th Dec 1954(54-5) Amateur Cup 1st rd)
funnily enough a copy of that programme is on ebay now , would be a nice one to have being in thefamous old Amateur Cup competition and may not have the writing on this one.
funny my uncle also played for the hamlet that era and a cousin !

Thanks a lot billbond .. yeah I've gone ahead and bought that one :) I think my dad was injured quite frequently so his appearances might have been sporadic and also might explain the omission on this occasion.

Sorry to say Tom C that I had a quick look this morning through the ‘50s programmes held by the Supporters’ Trust, which are currently in my safekeeping, but I couldn’t find one in which Don Chantry was listed on the line-ups. I will check again when I have more time but I’m not too hopeful I’m afraid.
