Want to cheer a friend up

My friend has had to have her dog put to sleep today so she's understandably very upset. Obviously I can't go and see her at the moment but would like to get her and her 3 kids perhaps a little gift or a treat to cheer them up a bit. Struggling for ideas beyond flowers and choccy! Hard times when what you really want to do is go and give them a hug.

Yeah, something like you've suggested sounds good - you'll know their preferences so can pick something they'll like. They'll be grieving so a nice gesture will go some way to alleviating that.

Flowers can seem like an obvious choice or a bit naff but they are always beautiful and for me at least, always welcome.
Never underestimate the power of a lovely bunch of flowers.

When we had our dog put down the vet sent a lovely card and sone seeds to plant in his memory. I thought that was lovely.

Thanks for the ideas. We had lovely walks with her kids and my kids with the dog. On the beaches, on the riverbanks, in the woods. Gutted myself.

Picture frame (with a nice picture of the dog if you have one) and a candle - only thing I wanted to do when Radar died was make a little shrine and light a candle
