Walthamstonians lift bus from injured cyclist

I haven't cycled in about 4 years now - for good reason!! :(

in fact I intend to start cycling again once I've moved to the midlands!

Don't know the circumstances in this case, but it can be a bad idea to attempt such a manoeuvre unless paramedics are there to deal with any bleeding/shock that might arise after release from entrapment.

Surely the odds would be better if they were being crushed?

I know what you mean. I think it was just instinct. I don't know if it was instrumental in his survival or made it worse or what.

There are cases where the weight of impact might be staunching an artery or something.

He's going to be OK which is the main thing.
I am surprised that unicycles are allowed on the roads but apparently so. In fact they have to go on the road in the same way bicycles do.

The only knowledge I have which isn't applicable here is falling from a height and it being arrested by a harness. You've got 20 mins to gtfo or risk getting crush injuries. Now, with a bus on you...

You would think, but they've been legislated on to the road. Seems a bit misguided.

Probably to stop people using them on pavements. They're more suited to circuses and that though.

I totally agree.
I'm glad it seems the guy will be ok but unicycles are not intended to be used on busy London roads. It's dangerous enough on a normal bike.

My great uncle was a trick cyclist but he only rode the unicycle on the music hall stages!

Quicker and less tiring to walk than unicycle - definitely shouldn't be on the road tbh

Hope he recovers well and more is done to protect cyclists
