Urbanites' FAVOURITEST EVA Film Poll Suggestions

Nine Bob Note

Self-Isolating before it was fashionable
How could/should such a poll be run?

One/Three/Five/Ten nominations each?

I thought about suggesting that all nominations (as opposed to comment, discussion and derision) should be displayed in bold, or coloured text to make them easier to quantify?

Should film titles be posted in English, or in their original language (with English in brackets?) If so, USA or British titles?

Should nominations be put to a final 12-option poll, or be counted, and left at that?

The biggest poll since my 2005 "Favourite British Sitcom" poll returned Spaced (followed by Father Ted and Blackadder) NEEDS YOU! The aforementioned sitcom poll was a huge success, but it relied on there being fifty definative finalists, whereas this vote could potentially have thousands of nominations.

Suggestions (not nominations), please

What about Russian, Chinese, Thai and so on....logistical problems with some films there I reckon. Otherwise I have nothing more useful to add because I shall be too busy compiling my nomination list. A sort of Desert Island Films because I can't choose just one.

there are so many films in existence, of so many genres, that I really think that this poll will be both impossible and inconclusive- and indeed, irrelevant to the general opinion of filmgoers across the globe, as I doubt it will hold much sway with the likes of Mark Kermode, Jonathon Ross, or that baldy guy who presents Front Row.

however, for what it's worth, I nominate Dirty Dancing.

Recently, I read Empire's top fifty TV shows. The highest placed comedy in the list was Friends. Draw your own conlusions.

People, en masse, are stupid. We howeveer, as urbanites are tons betterer and cleverer

I dunno - the film poll wasn't so bad, as a guide for what you are trying to do...possibly cross reference it with Sight and Sound, Channel 4 and the Grauniad and a list of top 100 foreign/doc films or something. Lets be honest: those are the most likely starting points.

Always been a big fan of 'The Good, The Bad And The Ugly' myself.

That and 'Once Upon A Time In The West.'

Nobody is doing this properly at all

My suggestions:

M*A*S*H
Pan's Labyrinth
Donnie Darko
Delicatessen
