University granted fairtrade status

I think it is worth pointing out that 'fair trade' is actually a misleading and much trumpeted misnomer.

Slightly less unfair may be more appropriate and honest but clearly less likely to persuade consumers to pretend to themselves that they are 'right on'.

Example: Tesco unfairtrade bananas, price to producer 1p / Kg.
Tesco 'fair trade' bananas, price to producer 1.5p / Kg BUT hard to qualify for extra .5p.

The sceptical consumer would do well to take these claims as greenwash and at best a very small step in a very large direction.
