Anyway this friend of mine right has a very trusting employer. Everyone keeps their own record of hours worked. No time clock, no questions, no checking, all on trust.
My friend used to have a horrible commute, an hour each way that has been largely replaced with working from home.
Next week he has to go to a work dinner (not a jolly, genuine work event) in a restaurant nearish but not in the office on a day he really hadn't planned going in.
In the old days he'd commute on his own time do a day's work and the function would be private time too
But he's thinking now the extra 2 hours travelling and the time at the function should be written down as work time.
