Thursley Common on fire

Bahnhof Strasse

Met up with Hannah Courtoy a week next Tuesday
Now in its third day, 140 hectares burning, the ground there is sandy, but covered with tinder-dry pine needles and heather...

Such a shame, it's a national nature reserve, packed with reptiles and a haven for birds, there's about two miles of boardwalks over the marshy bits, apparently all now gone. And more, during these past couple of months this has been my absolute number one place to walk in solitude and sort my head out. Baby Bahn 1's best mate's house backs on to it and she's been told to prepare to evacuate this evening.

Blimey - I used to ride there (horses) frequently in my youth

(Also used to do a lot of A Level biology field trips there, good study of habitats and ecosystems :( )

Oh no, it’s a glorious place, I too used to ride there in the early 80s when I kept my horse in Elstead. Breeding season for so many species... nature has a way of bouncing back. Humans are its worst enemy.
