Question Things to consider before hiring an icon designer

Need some opinion. I’m currently handling a project for a new set of Android and iOS apps. And as of the moment, I’m planning to hire this custom icons designer to help me out. It’s my first time handling this kind of project and working with such an expert, so I don’t know where to start. Are there some things I should consider before doing anything else? Like if I should look at their portfolio first, or is checking their range of services even important.

Just look at their work. If you like it, hire him/her.
