The Republican Election Challenges

This is really quite something.
106 Republican members of house & senate , and 18 state attorneys general, have signed up to support the mad texas lawsuit that aims to overturn the election result for trump. 90 didn't join in.
It will still fail, but this is more than them being silent, they acre actually putting their names to this absolute bullshit case. Out of fear of trump or trump's supporters? Idk.

I have to confess that I’m increasingly concerned about what could happen in the next few weeks and months. I think a peaceful transfer of power with no ugly consequences on the other side will be a matter of good fortune.

Some of the stuff presented in that podcast someone posted up seem quite prescient at the moment.

Yuwipi Woman have you listened to it?

So new states New California and New Nevada want the election overturned? Might be time for the Democrats to file a brief arguing that new states Good Mississippi, Smart Kentucky, and Sober Florida want the election result to stand.
You'd think they could get the established state of Jefferson nutters in on this one rather than just putting new in front of state names.

“Jefferson State” acfually went for Biden.

ETA but as maomao points put below, this is one county in the “state”, not the whole state. I misrepresented the article.

Even in his worst case scenario it takes a couple of years to develop into full blown civil war. His 'worst year ever' podcast is quite good too.

There's going to be no significant violence to try and keep Trump on the White House because that just wouldn't work. But if the Trumpists do set up a 'president from Mar a lago' type situation they will be pushing parts of the country to reject the new president starting with public health policies. That could get even more nasty than it already is.

That's one county. Jefferson state is all the red ones round it and part of rural Oregon too.

Yep. On further delving (and actually reading the article I linked to...) I realised my mistake.

Was going to just delete my post but in light of your correction I’ll let it stand.

Thanks for calling it out,

The big one's gone:

Activist political appointees to the Supreme Court I expect

... next up -> succeed from the US.

In a statement released Friday, Allen West, the Texas GOP chairman, said in tossing the lawsuit, the court "has decreed that a state can take unconstitutional actions and violate its own election law."

He also said the "guilty state" has "damaging effects on other states that abide by the law," and hinted that some states should consider seceding.

"Perhaps law-abiding states should bond together and form a Union of states that will abide by the constitution," West said.

Complete and utter meltdowns going on in the world of extremist trumpers/qanon right now as they fail to get their heads round the fact that the supreme court did not do what they wanted it to do. It's funny in a way (the wild theories of how come this happened, are the judges all bought by china etc) but then many of them all they seem to have left is fantasies of violence, which is grim. Hanging seems to be the go-to method of imaginary retribution, for the judges, for everyone whose fault it is that trump lost.

There's a lot of American conservatives accepting that it's over. Some headbangers are saying that the judges appointed by Trump were deep state operatives but moderate conservatives seem glad the Texas suit failed as they recognise it would have damaged the union.

He's not coming back from Mar a Lago after Christmas. There's no chance he'll have the decency to follow tradition and ride to the inauguration with Biden. He'll be banned from twitter within a month or two after the inauguration and his power will wane. What's unclear is how many in the Republican party will be prepared to accept how toxic he's been and move away from him. Maybe the lawsuits he'll face will have an impact on that.

Yep. Its like the thing's reached boiling point now with a sort of accelerated evaporation - you can see that only the real committed extremists are going to stay with it (at least vocally) after this, the rest are gone, with those who express their despondency getting pushed out (you don't want to fight anymore you coward, leave and let us get on with it).

Interesting wording from Pelosi:

in a Dear Colleague letter sent Friday evening, Pelosi said the Republicans are “subverting the Constitution by their reckless and fruitless assault on our democracy which threatens to seriously erode public trust in our most sacred democratic institutions, and to set back our progress on the urgent challenges ahead.”

Could be trouble ahead for the trumpet faction, if she refuses to seat members of the next Congress who co-signedTrump’s effort to challenge the election?

I guess the winnowing is now complete and the grift can be stepped up a notch.

"Loyal Trump supporters, the Supreme Court has proved to be part of the swamp and our glorious Republic is in its hour of direst need, and can only be saved by President Trump - and YOU. I know many of you have given generously already, but ask yourselves - what value is a home when your country has been destroyed? Please contact Kushner & Co. for more information on a Freedom Lover reverse mortgage."

We're seeing a stabbed in the back myth being born before our eyes. I can't see it quite acting as a central motivating myth for numerous million strong militias as it did in immediate post-war and Weimar Germany but there are a lot of small armed groups and a lot of people, so potential for a lot of isolated looking individual or small scale violence is definitely there.

I'm not convinced that it's all grifting. I think the heart of it is still Trump's inability to believe he lost. Over the last four years he's sacked anyone who's criticised or disagreed with him.

He used to quote Fox as "evidence" that he was right but has ditched them now they say he's lost. He has cut himself off from anything that challenges his view and may well believe all the crap he churns out. The further from the throne, the more the light of reality may shine, but he, himself, can't accept he's the loser . He's gaslighting himself. There are similarities with the bunker

All the pieces are in place for some kind of chronic guerilla type civil war to start churning away.

He's going to invent a "higher" court isn't he. Hold a sham hearing, be declared the winner and then sit the rest of his miserable life in mar-a-lago wearing a blue peter crown, directing his minions in a Parler echo chamber to rage against the "fake" government.

Then act all surprised when someone finally goes full McVeigh.

"Only God can judge me", followed within a day by him being hit by lightning whilst playing golf.
