The perennial jeans question....

felixthecat

are we there yet?
Jeans. Fucking stupid jeans
Ladies of my acquaintance, does anyone know of a make of jeans that are straight, not skinny or boot cut, and fit both arse and waist? And that's arse and waist of someone who has both and isn't straight up and down. And they need to come in a longer length.

Am I looking for the denim equivalent of a flying rainbow unicorn?

What length are you after? A lot go to 31" but I suspect that might be a bit short for you.

Unless you take a smaller dress size, if might be worth checking Simply Be. Some of their jeans are cut for pearshapes, hourglasses, or people who aren't fat but do have quite curvy thighs for their size.

I recently bought some Evans Pear Shape Wide Leg jeans which are the most comfortable jeans I've had in a long time. Not sure if they do a straight leg version, but worth a look.

I've tried and failed with all of the straight simply be ones. My last effort involved me ordering 6 pairs at a time X2 to try on in different sizes. It's depressing.

Apart from levis, I think the old 501s in which I looked and felt divine ;)

The best jeans of that description I have ever worn are from here.

Seriously the only shortcoming of having lost weight is that my favourite jeans in the history of all jeans are now too big for me. :(

I have consulted the oracle (google) and I think I know now. I prefer the leg to be narrower and more flattering to my feminine curves around the hips and butt.

It sort of is if you HAVE a booty, which none of the models ever do. I am a shortarse though, so I'm probably a different shape. but I find them very flattering.

Women's jeans aren't my strong point but I was in Rivet and Hide the other day and they stock a 3Sixteen model for women called 77BSP. They're a mid-rise skinny cut made from American Cone Mills 14oz selvedge denim with gunmetal rivets and a zipped fly. They retail for £180. I bought a pair as a pressie.

The only other two models in raw for women that I'm aware of are the Tellason 'Bird'. Yeah, honestly! But if the condescending name doesn't put you off they're in a lighter 12.50z Cone Mills denim in a blue line selvedge. They're a straight leg, medium rise and would look like the older anti-fit 501 models that some of you seem to prefer. I don't currently know of a UK supplier but I like the cut, they're more of a workwear style rather than a tailored finish. More forgiving if you have curves.

The last model is the Samurai Geisha and I've only seen them in pictures. They're a slim fit Japanese one wash denim with typically Japanese details and a price tag to match.

Hope this helps, girls.

just go into a tk maxx, grab an armful of possible candidates in roughly the right zone, try them all on. If you find any pair that fits, buy them. If not, have a massive teary strop. why not? it's my usual method...

yes...I fucking hate shopping for jeans!

I've given up shopping for jeans. They all look shit on me. I'm short, chubby and apple shaped. Dresses forever thank you.

I'm with you. I gave up on jeans years ago due to apple shape. People are amazed when I tell them I do not own a pair of jeans.

I rediscovered Levis recently - high waisted skinnies and 501s for women. I am very much an hourglass shape and 5'8".
