Thoughts of Chairman Mwyn: The First Punks in Wales (Published in Cambria Vol 14 No 3)

I remember seeing a welsh speaking punk band called anhrefen? I think, in birmingham sometime in the mid to late 80's. Me and my mate and their mate were the entire audience but they were really good, and nice people as well. Wonder if they're still around!

I wanted to be a punk in 1976 but I was only 11 and my mum wouldn't let me :D by the time I was a teenager, that ship seemed to have sailed.

Great band. The drummer from SFA was a member for a time, and I think there's some other Furries connection that I've forgotten.

I think the bassist Rhys Mwyn is on the radio and does creative things around the north. This song is still played lots:

I've got an Anhrefn album...said "in Dub" on it so took a punt

I think that Ariwa and Studio ONe reference was a bit of a tongue in cheek false advertising thing? Need to double check that. Worked on me :D
Going by the liner notes and pictures clearly doing good things.
Listening now again its actually a great reggae punk record - i was a bit too purist for it at the time

Op makes me think Only Punk In The Village ;)
