The dog thread is better than the cat thread, because it features dogs.

The trauma of the loss of tail is finally over. Last night was first night without the lampshade, after stitches came out Tuesday. I’d been leaving it on while at work and overnight for a few days, because I really wanted to make sure it was healing well and that he wasn’t licking or worrying it particularly. Wednesday morning was his first walk for a month when he could actually run and he was so happy. (Couldn’t attach video). Phew.

Oh thank goodness, I was just thinking of him and wondering whether to ask! Glad to hear he is doing well.

He’s just fine and thank you for keeping him in your thoughts. We’ve had a lovely day today, had two good walks with friends (more for me than him, he’s not that bothered about other dogs, just wants to sniff and run), I feel like I can get back to my normal routine and he’s been off doing his thing and running like a loony.
I’d been a bit concerned that he wouldn’t be able to turn or stop so easily but the lack of tail doesn’t seem to have made much difference, he seems as sure footed as ever where we walk. Bloody impossible to see where he is, though, now there’s no flittering white excited periscope.

Edited because I’d originally said ‘get out of purdah’ as a quick way of describing how I felt when I could finally walk the dog freely again, while of course it is actually just a real thing. Really sorry about using the term as a throwaway word.

He'll be fine now mate. Exhale :)

Ever since their holiday together, Boo has been copying Ted’s permanent tongue-sticking-out routine. I come downstairs and there he is now, just sitting there with his tongue out

He’s just spending too much time with this idiot. The influence is rubbing off in the wrong direction

I love that so entirely.

The first photo is "boop the tongue"

The second photo is "You Don't EVER Touch The Tongue" (and continue to live)

My favourite next door dog needs looking after for a week for his owners holidays

I walked him last week and he fucking reeks and a week later despite mopping down my sofa and shake and vac-ing the gaff still hummed

Am I a bad person to ask the owner to get him fully washed up and perfumed at a groomers prior to arriving

Or, what I’ll probably do which is when he arrives whisk him off to the groomers for a shower

Answers on a postcard

Eta it is he on my avatar

Perhaps - he is my favourite dog, but do you mind if I take him (or give him a bath?) ... ? There's always the option that they'll pay.
