I had to do a review of the documentary, 'Strike: When Britain Went To War' the other week for a course I'm doing and when they were talking about the policing of the strike they played footage of a young labour MP complaining about violations of civil liberties, saying that the police were clearly going beyond their usual powers and had been granted 'special powers' to stop people picketing. A wry smile crossed my lips.
