The Bicycle Racing Thread 2014

I think Jens deserves a quick check. the commentary! At 1 k down, this is how the break will stay until about 10 k to go. Even if true its not exactly inspiring for average punter.

I heard that and thought he was a real dick for saying it.

some fans on the 'col de buttertub' (arf) are replicating some of the European fans by pushing the riders, blocking the road and generally being annoying cock-wombles :( still, wish I was there though

Todays stage and this years race must have meant so much to cav, what with kittel already snapping at his heals...sad

I'm raging. Managed to avoid all hint of a spoiler all day at work, get home to find the missus still isn't home so settle down to watch the last 130km as live. Switch the telly on, and before I even know what's happening I'm watching a slow-mo of Kittel crossing the line as the eurosport evening highlights come to an end.

Then, when I stick the recording on anyway to see what has happened throughout the stage, I find that the recording ended _km from the end.

I was going to ask did Didi make it to these shores or moan about no Brit with any chance to support BUT David, that hat...how much was thr bet for?

The caravans just gone past us, some very silly floats. The YorkshireTea float got the biggest cheer.

Decent stage today. Shame the Tour of Britain isn't bigger/longer. We have some great routes which don't get seen due to the dominance of Stoke and Caerphilly etc. A bigger race could include some proper difficult stages in the Highlands etc as well.

Good atmosphere in Shef today... Quite amusing floatery as belboid said. Lots of very shit eurobeats played over appalling tannoys, lots of tat for sale out of vans that would make the Trotters proud. A bit of gendarmarie propaganda, which - in true Rik fashion - I booed. Just ahead of the race (well, maybe 5-10 minutes) a random, quite stoned looking bloke grinning from ear to ear got massive cheers as he pottered past. We positioned ourselves on a not hill, so everyone went past pretty quickly, but the broken up nature of today's race worked out well on that front.
