The Ashes 2021/22

Discussing how to shuffle the order of the shit cards we’re holding is a bit pointless. If the basic problem is that we only have one player that can bat, nothing is going to make us win. The solution is long-term, in the short-term losses are inevitable.

There was talk at some point of holding it all in New Zealand as they have virtually no Covid. I think that may have suited England a lot more. They could bring their extended families, PA's, nannies etc plus play on green pitches in far moister conditions. Oh well.

Would it be bad to say that it might be useful for one of the players to intentionally get infected and then end the series here?

If you held the Ashes in Aotearoa, you might as well swap England for the Black Caps while you're at it.

Stokes has been a bit of a failure so far. And Root can't do it by himself. It'll be over by the end of the day. The most disastrous Ashes ever?
It's on the same level, I would say, as the Mitch Johnson Ashes 2013-14. That was a similar disintegration.

We've got Bangladesh in January, I'd kill to see the current Black Caps and a few of our up and comers have a crack at England right now.

Stokes clean bowled. Really has the vibe of a player who isn't in form but is continuously talked about as if he is.

My fading memories of England test cricket in the 90s still remind there was joy amongst the devastation. Those England sides were mercurial. This side is just a grinding march to the next set of gallows.

Right.

Only 28 behind now. 5 down, yes, but one of those is Leach.

Get a lead while still only 5 down, one of those Leach, and this isn't over yet.

:hmm:
