The Ashes 2015

'If' the Lords groundsman has prepared this pitch to order then England have risked all on the toss of a coin - and lost.

All the momentum from Cardiff gone and staring down the barrell not just of squandering a 1-0 lead but doing irepairable damage to morale etc. A declaration of somewhere north of 600/650 and having to bat for pretty much the rest of the match is a tall (& very probably impossible) order.
I wouldn't go so far as to say lost after just one day of play but I do agree with you that I don't think that this wicket has actually helped England all that much. After two below par batting performances I think Australia will be very pleased to have the opportunity to make some runs on a flat deck.

I doubt anyone asked the groundsman for a pitch as dead as this. It's not an exact science, and the cloudy humid weather leading up to the match probably hasn't helped.

Ha whenever Warne starts bigging up an Aussie player in that 'I'm trying not to be bias but I'm so obviously bias I may as well not bother to hide it' type of way, Australia lose a wicket :D

Declaration with ten sessions left in the match. England bat the next six sessions, get a lead, put Aus under pressure. There's still time.

Damn it :(

Can't see us coming back from this

England's middle order is their strength at the moment. I'd still back us to get a decent score here. Well, avoid the follow on at least. The Australia to run up a couple of hundred as quick as they can and it'll come down to a day or so's blocking to scrape the draw.

ETA: Or not, then...
