The Ashes 2015

Delighted to see that nobhead get caught from a stupid shot. Another chance blown to get his name on the lords honours board, something I hope never happens in all known and unknown universes.

On a separate note. When the ball that got thrown back ricocheted off Rogers' bat it was heading for the boundary, would that have counted as four runs or not?

Good question.

I think that means dead ball, but not sure. Might not be - if the ball ricochets off the batsman and onto the stumps with him short of his ground, is that a run out? I suspect it is, but that would have to mean no immediate dead ball.

Yeah I would suspect that's a run out too which means it should count as a boundary then shouldn't it? It'll probably come up in commentary later and my question will be answered.

Oof.
Definitely would have swapped bell for the leggy.

Found that you can pause the Web page based 5live stream to synch with the tv stream.

Everyone says that Lyth is one of the best slip fielders in the country.

Bell isn't, and never has been.

Unfortunately, that's an accident that has been waiting to happen. Self-inflicted by England, though, if they won't put Lyth there. :(

I fucking hate seniority bullshit in sport teams.

Another dropped chance. Hard enough to get 10 wickets on this, impossible to get 14.

Good batting, touch of fortune - England had that last match. Dropped catches though. This was a day when winkling out five wickets would have been a decent show. Expensive, that Bell drop.

Scoreboard pressure, batting to save the match, up for it Aussie bowlers. It's going to be tricky regardless of the batting conditions.

Fucking aida, they were under 200-1 last time I looked.

So it'll be a draw or a loss.

Should've won the toss (and batted).

I have a feeling in my water that the series might go 1-4.

'If' the Lords groundsman has prepared this pitch to order then England have risked all on the toss of a coin - and lost.

All the momentum from Cardiff gone and staring down the barrell not just of squandering a 1-0 lead but doing irepairable damage to morale etc. A declaration of somewhere north of 600/650 and having to bat for pretty much the rest of the match is a tall (& very probably impossible) order.

Uusally go to the Lords test but couldnt justify the silly money they were asking - relieved....

Huge pressure on the openers, plus Ballance & Bell (for their places in the side)

Bollocks

I fast forwarded the highlights tonight. Watched the catch but shuffled through the rest. The thing is there's that fine line between getting a huge 1st innings and setting themselves up for a draw. Yes they could get to 600 but that'll take them into a good chunk of tomorrow, put us in and we're in for a day and some then that leaves about a day and half for the 2nd innings as a whole and that all depends on the weather holding too. I'd go draw over victory for either.

Could someone nip in overnight and move the wickets closer together so our bowlers don't have to throw the ball so far?

I mean, they're just sitting there... :hmm:
