The Octagon
Stop...Hammertime
What is this shite
Has anyone got any stats for how often the relentless rucking/mauling/driving within a couple of yards of the try line actually works?

Which of course requires a decent coachand a decent gameplan
But yeah, amazes me that with all the depth of talent in England you haven't been able to find anyone better than Youngs in what feels like a decade or so.
I'm afraid I only watch international rugbyIsn't that the foundation of Exeter's success?
Not very stout yeoman Youngs dropped for Eng.
No, you guys have some major problems at 9. Weird thing is, you've had them for the best part of 17 years: most of the incumbents and the pretenders to their crowns have been solid at best, hence Youngs' lengthy career in a white shirt. Not sure that starting with Heinz is an improvement. From all I've seen of him in an England shirt he's slow as treacle and telegraphs everything. Here's hoping he surprises me.
Hmmm. Given the weather forecast I wouldn't imagine the back lines will be doing anything fancy anyway. It'll be won up front: advantage Wales in the backrow, advantage Ireland in the tight 5. I think it'll be closer than you predict but I do fancy us to nick it.Makes you a better side than last week. I can't see us beating Wales tomorrow. While there was some good stuff in attack last week, Ringrose and Aki in making yards there were there things which were really poor. The first if you are to beat Wales you need to whip that ball away quickly. Murray isn't doing that nor is he bringing any plays off 9 which he was successful at doing in 2018. The second out maul has gone backwards, under Plumtree it was supreme under Easterby it has regressed to the point we don't seem to have the confidence to kick to the corner and maul. Lastly Larmour is doing a Kearney impression rather than being Larmour, making yards but into bodies.
So predictions
Ireland 14 Wales 23
Scotland 10 England 20
France to beat italy.
Yeah I heard it was going to be a gale and heavy rain, puts more emphasis on the maul up close. Your backrow plus AWJ are good defending a maul. Don't get me wrong I would love us to beat Wales, just can't see it tomorrow...Hmmm. Given the weather forecast I wouldn't imagine the back lines will be doing anything fancy anyway. Mind you, home advantage and all that - it rarely sees reverses among the better sides.
If they play with the aggression of last week and if their loosehead can get away with boring in then England may struggle.Wale/Ireland may come down to injuries (unfortunately), too tight to call I reckon.
Glad to see Youngs off, we'll see how Beanz goes starting now. Scotland love to spoil a party so it will be a tough game up there. Not confident tbh.

Yes, I think you're right. Think results in the tournament are becoming more and more home-centric these days, though.Didn't Ireland and wales go through a period of winning away in this fixture during the late 90's early 2000?
