I would just like to add my voice to the "what the fuck is he up to with that back row?" discussion.

I honestly think that after fucking up the WC, England will be back to glorious one match and shite the next. What the fuck is the policy of utterly ignoring players who are actually good in a specific position? I get that international test rugby is a different gig, but for fucks sake. I stand by my original comment before the WC that the prop selection was a fucking mistake - and I'd say that it contributed massively to us losing the final. That's what his weird selection policy gets you. Bored of uncle Eddie now.

Sounds interesting, looking forward to seeing how Wales go, how is your annual 6n pessimism level this year :D
I await the 1st Bendeus fan rant with anticipation.....:)
Genuinely don't know how it's all going to fall so keeping my powder dry until it becomes clearer. There's so much uncertainty around this 6N, what with new coaching teams/styles of play and year zero in the building for the WC cycle that literally anything could happen (bar Italy becoming good).

The Wales side is decent, with some excellent backs and, imvho, arguably the best backrow in the world but the tight 5 is either ageing or sub international standard so it's going to be tough to get parity and possession from the setpiece enough to unleash the potent backline.

A lot hinges on the post Edwards defence and the post Gatland dog. If we can retain both to some degree we're in with as much of a chance as anyone.

Well, I'm quite relaxed this year. No pressure, no expectations, just the vague indication that we won't get the wooden spoon.

As a Scot, I can enjoy the despair, its the hope I can't stand :D

Tompkins had a good debut
Yes, he was excellent. Seems moulded in the Josh Adams/Halfpenny style of doing the basics well. If I was English I'd be spitting at getting him poached but I suppose there's waaay more competition at 12 for the Ruperts than there is for us.

great start to this game

Scotland have come to play
Yeah, Ireland are quite subdued. If Scotland learned how to retain the ball in the oppo 22 the scoreline could look very different now, and not in Ireland's favour.

the line speed from them and the accuracy in passing is a big step up from the world cup.. few more tweeks and they would be dangerous

Oh, there's still 40 minutes for a timid, keystone kops collapse

Scotland need to sort out the mistakes in the breakdown they would a about 2 scores clear of us if not for the errors

Loved the big cheer when Toner came on , and then the bigger one when he caught the lineout ball:thumbs:

I dunno if we were so bad, more effort in defense than in the last 12 months, far less rucking, a genuine effort to go wide, less reliance on the box kick. Yes it was like watching a game from the 90s but as a first game that involved players thinking for themselves and problem solve (see Henshaw said two grubbed) it wasn’t a bad start especially as Doris going off unbalanced our back row.

Absolute fucking numpties. Just wall to wall bad decisions and general empty headed idiocy

Quite.
Oh hang on, you were talking about Scotland.

Jonny May not bothering to tackle because he thought it was a knock on
Sinckler giving away a penalty for closing the gap at the lineout literally just after the ref had warned everyone about closing the gap
Itoje not knowing he was off side
Pointless fucking kicking into the French 22

Fucking miserable.
