Swimming: Open Water and Training etc.

I've heard the Wey river/canal south of Guildford is good. Anyone been ? really missing swimming. With all the pools shut i bet other spots are over subscribed.

Along with weekly trips to my local lake I've managed to get in for swims at Windermere and Grasmere and a sea swim today in Lanlivet Bay

There's a new lake "opening" in Reading this weekend that I'll probably have a try there too.

I've knocked about 5 minutes off my time per km this season so far too....

I don't know if it is still the case, years ago it was clean enough to swim in. But aren't there a lot of boats on it these days?

I did a nice couple of km in a lake about half an hour from my house today. It was lovely. Can't believe it's been so long since I last went swimming.

Really nice system actually, you book an hour long slot, max 15 people each hour. Turn up a little bit beforehand to get changed at your car if you need to. The car park is divided in two so while one lot are doing their swim, the next lot arrive and park in the other side and get ready, then the previous swimmers get out and go to their bit of the car park so you're only ever near the 15 people you swim with.

I've swum quite a lot in the Wey and in the Thames where the two rivers join at Weybridge (here mostly) and I've always been ok. Never swam in the canal.

Cracking the Mount on Saturday weather permitting

doing it with a random off the internet and a mate on a kayak as safety

hoping the chap off the internet isn’t biting off more than he can swallow

just need to work out which way round to do it.....

Swimming round it?

I'm thinking of swimming to it (and maybe back) from Marazion next time I'm there (maybe October).

Can't find much info on it though.

Last time I was in Marazion the beach was littered with Portuguese Men o War mind

Lovely swim this morning.

I started the year with a dip in 3.8c and early Spring swam in 7ish, and recently it's been stuck at around 13. So today's 22c was a bathtub in comparison. Easier swimming, but less of a rush.

Wish we had more venues near us. There's only one I can think of and it's really discouraged by making parking really hard and i know it will be mobbed tomorrow.

There's loads of lovely reservoirs in the Peak that's would be amazing, but it's banned. I am wondering who actually enforces it though. Might take the canoe out and just fall in.

We got asked to move on my some PCSOs. Luckily we were pretty much done. They seemed pretty embarrassed about the whole thing. They started with a chat about how the temperature is the same year round. Well clearly it isn't. :D
