So Stargate AI got announced today. Supposedly building has begun.
There's a already a lot out there about it...they're hoping to raise £500 billion and make the USA the leader in AI technology.
I want to pick up on a different angle to all this - though no doubt there will be much to talk about over the coming months
I picked it up from this video by Matt Wolfe who is an AI cheerleader. He follows every single announcement every single day and reports on all the new shiny developments. He loooves AI. And he relays how yes Stargate may well create lots of amazing breakthroughs in medicine in particular, which is what the press conference focussed on.
But even he has one reservation - the key involvement of Larry Ellison. And the reason for that? Larry Ellison wants to create a total surveillance society, where every CCTV camera can be watched by AI and can act accordingly.
