Help SMS Texting app - not google owned one

I dont know how this has all happened but if I text someone from my phone its via some kind of google owned and google signed in app ...its seems to be called MESSAGES ?

I want to delete that and just use old fashioned SMS that isnt linked with anything else

Any ideas about what to do? I would've thought there'd be a default as with phoning someone, but in my case there isnt (Xiaomi android phone btw)

Yeah my samsung phone uses that now after an update. I think it sends the message by sms if the other person doesn't use it. I prefer to use whatsapp to sms anyway. Not sure if you can go back though.

yeah i dont choose to use it but i receive messages on it from others and then have to reply there
