Help Simple software/app for restaurant table booking/reservations

editor

hiraethified
I've been asked to source an easy to use program and/or app that lets pub/restaurant staff register which tables have been booked.

The requirements are pretty basic - the pub has around 60 tables and they get people ringing up to reserve tables for meals/big sports events etc.

There's no need for any kind of customer interface, so what's needed is just a way for staff to easily input which tables have been booked and for what time (it's open quite long hours so it's not unusual for a table to be booked several times over in a day).

Ideally web/browser based and dead simple (so staff can't fuck up templates), and free/very low cost.

Any ideas, urban folks?

I'm actually looking for someone with a bit of hands on experience rather than a guide on how to use Google. Did you even look at the results? Theyre almost commercial and far too over engineered for the uses I carefully highlighted above.

Some of that list fit your description very well actually.

But hey ho...the restaurateurs of Urban will be along soon to help you google search further. :D

Is your scroll finger broken? :hmm:
Works fine thanks, but the idea of this forum is that people offer useful advice rather than "hey, go to Google and keep scrolling and maybe you might find something."

But to save you posting up anything else of zero use: I'm good with Google, thanks.

Okay so you are not interested in free, web based, easy to use, can handle 60 or more tables kind of thing then? There were at least 2 in that list.

I clearly am so kindly list them.

Not sure why didn't you just post them up in the first place, mind.

Free Restaurant Reservation System - Online Software App

Looks like it does everything but something smells fishy about it.

How can it be free?
It does seem well featured (and suspiciously free!), although there isn't - as far as I can see - a graphic table plan which might be needed (and they don't want people making bookings online as staff don't have access to a computer while they're working). But thanks I'll take a proper look later although I suspect it may be too capable!

I still can't find any other free/cheapo alternatives. Tableagent does look bloody good though, even if it lacks the graphic layout which is apparently needed.

Read it...still two more options on there.
So you won't actually list any? Not even one? Tell you what. I can do without your 'help' seeing as you've yet to offer a single actual link to anything useful.

tbh less than 100 quid a month for something that’s being used commercially doesn’t seem to be that bad
Maybe not to you, but it's a staff initiative and if you know anything about pubs you should know that £100 a month is anything but a minor expense when it's not going to produce any extra income. This is just something the staff want to do so they can do a better job. The bosses aren't interested.

That has the seating diagram which is better but given their total lack of web savvyness, the'yre going to need a browser/cloud combo.

What I can gather it's just a php script you self install, so even if they had it running on a fairly basic webserver (WAMP will work under Windows) installed locally on a laptop, it theoretically, could work. Downside is it would be a single point of failure if the laptop breaks, gets nicked and a waste of 75E if its too difficult to use.

If no one is tech savvy in the pub then someone is going to have to set it up for them in the first instance and probably the same for any software they recommend. Ultimately it depends on how many phonecalls you also want from said staff if they go with a cheap/free solution rather than a paid solution that offers support.

Tableagent looks more like it, but anything that involves doing anything on their server is a no-no for a load of reasons!
