I love Ray. More or less the first memory of recorded music I have. My grandpa, though principally into his classical, had a few albums from other genres and so I reckon I first heard this stuff at aged 6 or 7 or something.
I think he preferred the syrupy sentimental Ray than the more upbeat stuff and why not. I get a lovely nostalgic feeling from those slower tunes. Crying time, Take These Chains From My Heart, I Can't Stop Loving You.
I remember us both laughing at Two Ton Tessie, probably him at the jokes about opening a nightclub on her hip etc and me literally picturing a two ton lady
