Shambala 2020

moonsi til

worked it out now!
Tickets went on sale today for 20th anniversary year. They do 3 tiers of tickets at different prices & all can be paid via deposit scheme. Tier 1 & 2 sold out & apparently half of tickets sold already.

We (as a group) have decided not to go next year, we've been doing it for a decade and last year I saw no music at all, ate no truly astounding food and found that my highlights weren't really anything specific to shambles.

We still had a lovely weekend but it's a bit expensive for a camping trip.

So this year we are going to nozstock - mostly because two of the W's now need shambles tickets = almost £100 whereas under 12s are free at noz.

Would be interesting to hear how you get on at Nozstock wiskey -- we've been semi-interested in giving that a go for the last couple of years or so ....

Probably not 2020 (?), but if it seems excellent, then we could maybe put it on the list for the following year :)

We had a few years off after going for approx 8 years in a row until last year & had one of our best years ever. Some of this was down the bands playing being released & being able to make a playlist via Spotify. The year we said ‘enough’ was the year the main stage cleared on the Sunday headliner who sounded awesome in the programme.

A few years away have given us back the love for Shambala. 2020 is the 20th year too.

I went to nonstick years ago and really disliked it, lots of scousers trying to start fights and I was working and the steward organiser was a dick..... but I know lots of people who love it, so maybe its sorted itself out.

Got my shambala tickets now though, did contemplate signing up for medical, but my partner comes with me and I think we'd like to have the whole weekend together.

That's not been my experience at all. I've been for the last couple of years and will be going again next year. I've never seen any agro and always found it nice and friendly. A great selection of bands for such a small festival too

Glad to see its improved then, it was all liverpudlian drum and bass heads starting fights when I went.

As my personal contribution to the ongoing gentrification of all and sundry: we have opted for the easy option this year and gone full on yurt

As of today, they are still planning to go ahead in August - but obviously this could well change later

To the surprise of absolutely no one, Shambala '20 bit the dust yesterday.

Refunds ahoy unless you proactively ask them to roll you over to 2021
They are also asking for a £30 per head crowd funder thing to help them towards being around in 12 months time - Can't criticise that really.

Feeling a bit sad, although it was inevitable really

How much
And you can only bring your own tent if you are already paying for a yurt etc!
But I can see they are trying to salvage what they can and at those prices a lot of people wont go as they have already paid out and I presume its rolled over to next year....

Just a punter. It seems we may have given a contribution in that last ticket roll-over form 2020 - so were able to take advantage of the 24hr head start for tickets

But if anyone is up for an I.R.L. U75 I'm up for it. Especially if there is beer

After all the press about the somme like debris left behind after Reading, there was a lot of post shambino discussion on FB

There was apparently one tent reported as left behind, before it was established that the owner had gone for a wander and then came back to collect it

this is apparently the shambino aftermath

ETA I get that it is a lot smaller than Reading and also predominantly middle class eco-warriors rather than pissed post GCSE 16 yr olds, but even so. Very pleasing

I can confirm that everyone tidied up their shit all the time as I saw no rubbish around anyone's tent generally. It was small enough to walk back to my van through camping pretty often.
They have done a rubbish sweep but that pic was posted a few days after the event so I doubt there was much to do.
But that is the Shambino crowd for you.
