UPDATE!!!!!

The occupation of Wyndford Primary, 116 Glenfinnan Drive, Glasgow G20 8HL. is strong and well. I have spoken to Nicola at 21:51, a parent inside the school. They have no intention of leaving and have barricaded themselves inside. The police are away at the moment and all that is left are security guards, but we do not know for how long.

Spirits are high with a karaoke and pizza the theme of tonight. There is a demo called for 12pm outside the school tommorow to show support against the closures and to give much needed moral boosts for the parents and occupiers.

There are currently 13 people inside, many parents with children and one of the parents has their childs birthday tommorow. They are asking if anyone can help in anyway, either to take turns in shifts to let one or two get to see their children or if you could bring some desperately needed supplies.

They have asked for....

Sleeping Materials - airbeds, covers, pillows etc as they currently have only a couple of airbeds.

Camping Stoves - the gas has been turned off, although currently they still have heating in the school.

Pots, Pans and cutlery or anything else you think they would need for the occupation.

MOST OF ALL THEY NEED OUR SUPPORT.

Please show solidarity with the occupation, messages of support have came in from all across the world to their mobiles, its helping with moral.

SAVE OUR SCHOOLS, PLEASE HELP SUPPORT THE OCCUPATION IF YOU CAN.

The parents send their thanks to those who have shown support already.

You can check the situation before going up by texting 07894123721.

Many thanks for your time.

Have seen that many schools are to be closed down and supposedly rebuilt but not really been following.. What are the alternative schooling options in place for the pupils of these schools.. Is there a breaking up of communities and placements for the children that are going to make getting to and integration in the new schools a problem.. Are new schools already in place and is it just another breakdown of the familiar and a protest against daft gubment proposals with unheeded ability to say no to ridiculous ideas of new school potential..

I know in my area they are considering closing down some schools and hoping to send them to one school in particular making use of a larger building with the capacity to hold more pupils than it does at the moment.. I can see the reasoning behind the amalgamation and cost effectiveness of closing two schools with the promise of that funding going to a half empty school with potential to take the children from the other two schools that have a lesser number of children than they have the capacity for yet costs are as high..

There is also a dilapidated High School with many medway type classrooms that is having the investment of a larger school being built in the same grounds with the capacity to have enough classrooms and facilities within the actual school to accomodate potential numbers of pupils that was fought against by PTA as they were concerned that in the building of the new school.. the sports area would suffer till the old building and medway huts were removed.. there would be a reduction in the sport ground area for a year or two..

What is the reason behind the occupation of these schools.. With more information I could make a decision to actually support..

I ask seriously as my children went to many schools over the years as they were forces brats (Oldest has been in nine schools.. primary and secondary with a middle school or two thrown in..) and some schools I actively tried to make a change when I found some lacking in certain areas.. and sometimes made a change..

I ask.. what are the alternative options for the parents and children of these schools..??
