NORTH EAST ANARCHIST CONFERENCE September 13th

The North East Anarchists are announcing an intention to hold our first general assembly across the region. It will be the first ever gathering of the North East Anarchists clan, and to begin with it will be in Middlesbrough.

All our members, activists, and people close to us will be welcome to participate. We will encourage people to attend by pooling our fares, which entails a donation, and, of course, it will be dependent upon peoples ability to pay something.

The organisation;

1) A great spacious Venue has been booked in Middlesbrough

2) Date - Saturday September 13th, 1-5pm. Groups should now discuss this and arrange transport for as many to get there as possible. Important organisational issues and group democracy will be decided at this event which will determine our practice as an organisation until the next General assembly. At this stage we imagine them to be 6 monthly but this is to be decided as well.

3) Agenda - Provisionally;

1) Welcome
2) Introductions
3) Reports from NEA North & NEA South
4) Political review of our initiatives, propaganda and practice
5) The current political situation
6) Future organisation, finance, initiatives and wider events
7) Thankyou's and entertainment - a social with a great vibe is planned for the evening.

Suggestions and proposals for the agenda can be added by groups, and individuals can message us.

We are not an island however, we encourage different groups and national organisations to send us messages of support and proposals to discuss or consider. We will also be outreaching to certain organisations to make sure that they know we are open to discussion, for practical solidarity, to participate on certain projects, and to develop all our organisations together.

This is a tremendously exciting time for the North East Anarchists and as far as this writer is aware, it could be the first ever North East regional anarchist conference! Certainly its unique in the 21st century, and probably beyond. Just do it!!

A good time to get involved in things in the northeast and Teesside. Alongside and to some extent overlapping is Teesside Solidarity Movement which has organised things around the Bedroom Tax, EDL, ATOS etc. There's also a Unite Community Branch in the area. TSM is a broad campaign with various trots, Marxists and anarcho types, which manages to operate without any of the stridency and powergames you might expect. https://www.facebook.com/TeessideSolidarityMovement

Sorry, not trying to derail this into an advert for TSM. I've been involved in NEA marginally, if not the planning for this meeting. I'd really encourage people to come along as there's no template and anyone getting involved would have a genuine chance to shape things.
