RYA cruiser courses.

Has anyone done these? Are they worthwhile?

I can hire small day cruisers. It seems a very good idea to do the RYA courses. I want to be safe. I'd only be cruising around the Costa Tropical, maybe a little fishing.

Are there any good, sensible, alternative courses?

Yes I've done them all up to Yachtmaster Offshore.

Absolutely worth doing - aim for Day Skipper, or the euro ICC certificate at least
