Roxette singer Marie Fredriksson has died at the age of 61.

The Swedish popstar, who co-created Roxette with Per Gessle in 1986, died on Monday morning after suffering from a long-term illness.

She was best known for her Roxette hits It Must Have Been Love - featured in the 1990 box office hit Pretty Woman - Joyride, Listen To Your Heart and The Look.

The pop duo were huge in their time, selling more than 75 million records around the world and scoring 19 Top 40 hits, which propelled them to the height of fame.

To be fair Ulf Eckberg does actually sound like the name for a fascist band

Pushing my luck I guess, posting the same video to more than one thread, but I always thought “Paint” was one of her best vocal performances. Her solo between 2:17 and 2:32 has such power and clarity. Recorded long before the days of autotune.

We lost a really talented singer today.

Amazing how she managed to come back from her original cancer back in the early noughties. I got a lot of stick from my mates for openly being a fan, but they all knew the words too. I think I liked Fading Like A Flower best.
