RIP Mick Atkins from Wasted Youth

I'm guessing most of you haven't heard of Mick, but he was in the original Wasted Youth line up, and then October Revolution. Very much in the mould of Johnny Thunders, I played in Mick's band for a bit (I think it might be me on the song above, but I'm not so sure it's so long ago).

We used to call him Wasted Mick and he truly fitted the description - one time the bugger OD'd on my kitchen floor.

I'm really saddened to hear that's he's no longer with us. Mick passed away in 2008 - I only just found out when I was researching the old Bridge House pub in Canning Town.

Anyhow, I just thought I'd post this in case anyone else knew the fella. RIP Mick.

Broke the news that their singer was dead on Saturday to someone that I hadn't been in contact with for a while. She also knew Mick well, their bassist is no longer with us either. Must have tempted fate writing a song about smack & coke called 'Survivors'. Some more info in the comments here:

Mick certainly lived the rock'n'roll dream, but sadly he modelled it very much on the Johnny Thunders end of the scale. I played the 100 Club with him. He was a nice bloke.

I've just learnt that the drummer of Wasted Youth, Andy Scott, passed away a few days ago. That's at least three of the band gone now
