Recommend me an electric shaver.

I haven't had an electric shaver since I was a teen. I kind of hated them and have been using blunt disposables all my life.
But I have a lot of thinking time lately, and ready for a change. I'd like a lovely smooth daily shaver that doesn't need a lot of maintenance.
If possible not those foil ones, I seem to remember those were ones I hated.

What's good these days?

As someone who used electric shavers for quite a while as I was involved in a testing program for Gillette (£150 a week to have a shave every day  ) I can honestly say no, I cannot recommend you an electric shaver. They are all rubbish and they give you ingrowing hairs. Get a proper razor.

Get a disposable with as many blades as possible. Bought a new razor years ago when on holiday only option was a gillette with 7 blades. The blades lasted for ever. Probably got 4 to 5 months out of each blade. Gillette stopped making them (probably because they last to long). Current 5 blade models gives a couple of months of use. Must look and see if anyone else does a 7 blader.

After using the likes of gilette mach 3 all my life I switched to a safety razor and a big packet of Astra double edged blades about a year ago. I'm completely astounded by how badly I have been ripped off for decades without realising it. The blades cost buttons. The quality of shave, if it really bothers you anyway, is not that dissimilar and on a completely fresh blade is better. Personally I think that's a better option than electric, or at least worth trying as it's a cheap solution. Though I do use an electric trimmer for my head - the Remington Flex 360.

Any advances in electric shavers since 2021?
Or is it better to stick with a wet shave with my Gillette Fusion 5 which does give a good close shave?
Just that I fancied the idea of being able to shave while watching tv rather than standing in front of a bathroom mirror for five minutes.
