R. I. P. Kim Shattuck

I concur with suplex, and the 'Pixies bassist' stuff in the reports is plain irritating.

There is a Pixies cover in here as it happens.

I'm reminded of the very early days of email.
Somehow I had Kim's email address. I wrote to her and told her how much I liked her music and how I first heard about the muffs etc etc, but then just mentioned that I wasn't too keen on the cover picture to the new album.
She wrote back angry as hell, she said she played a big part in the records art design and I shouldn't be so rude (or something). If I thought I was some kind of comedian, I shouldn't give up my day job.
I told her being a comedian was my day job, but that she was right, I should let my dreams of becoming a star die. She then wrote back all apologetic.

I am pretty sure I printed it all out and stuck it on the wall.

. . . Maybe a year ago I was having a short conversation on Facebook (I think with Bob Bert, which is amazing enough in itself for me), about the above emails with Kim. Then suddenly she joined in and said she was still angry and I should keep my thoughts about the album art to myself.

That album only came out on cd in the UK, but I kept seeing it quite cheap in Japan when I was there earlier this year . . . I just couldn't bring myself to buy it because of the crappy cover.

I got to do a duet recently for a charity record with the drummer in her other band the Pandoras. I always (ideas above my status) dreamed it might become an 'in' with someday doing a song with my teen idol.

Good grief, and I thought *I* had a knack for inadvertently pissing people off!

(Very sad news)
