The man who was World Party has sailed away....

I first heard this when I was 16. It might have been on The Chart Show, or The Tube. I went to get a copy of the single, but only found the 12 inch in the record shop. I still love that record; the cover, the b-sides. All of it. I didn't really buy 12 inches that much back then.

Sad news, loved World Party , and he was also involved with the Waterboys who was also a fave of mine back then. RIP.

He worked with Sinead O'Connor and knocked about with Prince too.

I remained a fan, but some of the later stuff suffered from sounding a bit samey. He knew how to work a studio, and played most of the instruments himself.

He was great. Sad that he died relatively young.
