Anyone read Prophet Song by Paul Lynch?
Absolutely brilliant and essential book for our time. Lynch builds from a familiar setting - a near future Ireland, and takes it down the path that many countries have already gone down.
Terrifyingly plausible.
A book to turbocharge your antifascism.
The Joyce/Hilary Mantel type style takes a bit of getting used to at first, but once you are used to it you are in the head and experiences of the main character.
