Postgraduate funding

Amazingly I have been accepted onto a postgraduate diploma. The problem is, because I'm a bit of a div I had no clue that student finance wouldn't fund it. It's only a year long, part time course. Any idea what my options are? Bank loan? How likely are a bank to give me money when I am on benefits? Halp! I really want to do this course.

there may be some funding available via your college - contact the department for details, in the first instance, before exploring other options e.g. career development loans.

You could take out a careers development loan (look it up).

Also there are loads of funding bodies that you can apply for money to. They're all bits and pieces, like "women from Norfolk applying to do a postgraduate degree in biochemistry" (they're not all that specific but you get my gist). I'll try and find a link to information.

Yeah also ask your university where students sometimes get funding from, they may know.

I don't think there's any shortcut, you just have to get trawling.

Do you have a placement and/or job in the field clair? If so your employer may agree to cover some/all the costs?
