R.I.P.
I've been on DLA for several years, and before that I had been on various disability benefits since 1990. I got my rejection letter this morning, now it seems I'm fine

I'm really fucked off. Too upset to deal with it now.

As with the old DLA it appears that most applications are only approved on appeal.
Have you got some support, moral or otherwise. There are some good advocacy agencies who can advise on completing the applications so please look into that.
I know the process can feel overwhelming, but good luck for when you feel up to carrying on.

i know about 6 people including ma who applied for PIP and all of them had to do appeals. In the case of my old dear, she can't manage the 200 yards down to the shop. Can't leave the house if the pleurisy comes on. Wankers. You'll get the appeal ball rolling on monday m8

Yeah DotCommunist People are getting turned down and then awarded PIP on appeal at alarming rates. It seems as if the assessors are deliberately getting it wrong!

PIP Mandatory Reconsideration Letter Builder Tool

BEVERLEY PURDY·MONDAY, 30 JANUARY 2017
Using this tool allows you to create your Mandatory Reconsideration Letter. It is really good and uses the same descriptors as the DWP use. You complete the tick boxes, then elaborate on the various sections, there is an any other information box, then you can print it off and send it away. Remember to get proof of postage, which you can get for free from your Post Office when you send the letter off. http://www.advicenow.org.uk/pip-too...

PIP Mandatory Reconsideration Example letter - although use the MR Template Letter Builder if you can.

BEVERLEY PURDY·TUESDAY, 9 MAY 2017
To: [Insert: Address of office that made the decision]
Date: [Insert: date]
Dear Sir/Madam
Re: [Insert: Your Name]
NINo: [Insert: National Insurance Number]
Re: PIP I would like to request reconsideration of your decision of [insert: date of decision, i.e. date given on the decision letter] that I [am not eligible for PIP/ not eligible for the Mobility component/ the Daily Living component/ should be awarded Standard Rate Mobility/ Standard Rate Daily Living (delete as appropriate].

If this applies: I was not happy with the assessment that I attended on [insert: date of assessment] because [please note the specific areas of disagreement, point by point].

If this applies: There was no attempt to establish the reliability with which any task could be accomplished, or the number of days a week it could be attempted.

I believe that the following points should have been awarded: [List each of the points that you think should apply to you, and then give an explanation of why it applies. In the example below you can see an illustration of this.]

This is sample of two particular descriptor points and the kind of information you might provide. It is not a suggestion of exactly what to write, which should be about you.

1(e) Needs supervision or assistance to either prepare or cook a simple meal = 4 points. I am unable to peel and chop vegetables, and I need supervision or assistance. I do not cook by myself for safety reasons.

12(d) Can stand and then move using an aid or appliance more than 20 metres but no more than 50 metres = 10 points. I cannot stand and move this distance more than once or twice in a day, and then I have to rest for the following couple of days; my back and legs cause me a lot of pain, plus my back will give way. [Please note that you need to score at least 8 points to get Standard rate, and at least 12 points to get Enhanced rate. You can add points within the Mobility component tasks, and within the Daily Living component tasks – but you can’t add Mobility points to Daily Living tasks to achieve the necessary score.]

If these points are awarded, it is clear that I should be [entitled to PIP/ and receive the Enhanced/ Standard rate of Mobility/ Daily Living component (select options and delete as appropriate)]. I will be seeking further evidence in support, and will forward it to you as soon as I can. I look forward to hearing from you.

Yours faithfully [NAME]

First, ask for a mandatory reconsideration straight away. Do so by phone AND by letter. Don't leave it, as you only get 28 days from the date of the decision (NOT from the date you received the rejection letter).

It's worse that DLA ever was. Under DLA the rate of appeal was about 35%, under PIP it's closer to 65%. Not surprising given that one of the stated intentions of transfer to PIP was to cut claims.

Hiya, I'm sorry to read this, bastards did the same to me too. I was on enhanced rate pip and when they reassessed me scored me 0. I went through mandatory reconsideration and appeal and was given standard rate. It was a long a drawn out process. I got support on here though, I hope you find the same. I assume you are going to appeal?
