Persiad meteor shower. 2021.

Perfectly clear tonight, though a little chilly. Several fireballs seen already (global shower peak was modelled to be around 2030BST earlier this evening). Shrieking barn owls also available in next field, mixing with the sound of a music festival a few km away.

Went out to feed the local foxes and looked up to see a fabulous meteor. Then, a few seconds later, another!

Crikey. Worth spending a while out here, Perseids and all that.

Went and fetched a kitchen chair, a blanket and a bottle of cider. Sat down to watch the splendour of the solar system unfold before my very eyes.

Half an hour later, cold, with a sore neck I came back not having see another single bloody meteor

I went out at about 11pm with a coffee, sat down, looked up and saw an absolute text book one 😀. Up there in my top 3 ever seen.
Buoyed with wonder I stayed out for another hour and didn't see another.
Now warming up with another coffee...may head back out for 15.

I'm on nights tonight so no fun but my body clocks currently nocturnal so tomorrow....clear skies and no moon. Will report back.
