Parking in Notting Hill/West London - Any Ideas?

I've got to stop off in Portabello Road market for a few hours tomorrow on my way up to Birmingham in the car, and don't have the first idea where I'll be able to park my car?

Anyone know of any on-street parking or car parks (preferably free or inexpensive, but I'll pay if I must) handy either for the market or the getaway to the midlands? I'm thinking it might be easier to park some distance from the market and get the final leg by tube.

ta muchly. :)

http://www.park-up.com/ seems to imply the parking restrictions in that area are either monday - thursday, or finish on a saturday at 1.30 pm. Even during pay and display hours the charge is only 50p an hour (!)

The usual "check the plates, re-check them and check them again" advice obviously applies.

Free parking in Zones 1&2? You're having a giraffe...

i live in zone 2 and have free parking - it's no where near notting hill though so not a lot of help:D

Yeh most residents parking is only monday to friday even in zone 1 and 2. Just make sure you check the signs.

If all else fails park in a supermarket car park innit? :)

well I thought that might be unlikely, and I thought it might be unlikely that I'm going to find ANYWHERE to park round there, hence the drive-further-out-get-the-tube-back plan ;)

hmm...supermarket car parks tend to be time restricted, I'm going to need at least 3 hours.

Good to hear resident's parking probably won't be in action.

I can never understand parking signs

My little street has free parking. It's in Zone 2. It's a "private road" and isn't enforced by the council. Not that I'd tell you which road it is...

It's Saturday tomorrow. There are no parking charges north of the Marylebone Road in Westminster, which is most definately zones 1 and 2. Coming from the south, turn right at Marble Arch, first Left and carry on until you are across the Marylebone Road (giant 6 lane thing, you can't miss it) . Then turn left and try your luck for a space. Jump on a tube at Baker Street or Edgware Road to Westbourne Park or Ladbrooke Grove.

Coming back you are handy for the Westway (but watch out for no right turn signs-some of which are enforced by cameras) A40, M40 straight to Brum.

Plenty of folks doing it last time I used Marylebone station on a Saturday.

That'll be one giraffe please :D

If you have an A-Z handy? Look at Rossmore Road or Harewood Avenue (back of Marylebone Station) They seem to have quite a few bays and you can turn right out of Harewood Avenue onto the Westway.

But anywhere north of the Marylebone road is free on a Saturday.

Gotta dash.......
